This is a general introductory course designed to enhance listening enjoyment and ability of what many popularly call "classical music." We will examine some of the most prolific masterworks music, placing emphasis on the characteristic styles of major historical periods and the lives and works of key composers within the Western musical tradition. We will discuss music chronologically in our three sessions together, beginning with Renaissance & Baroque periods, followed by Classical and Romantic periods, and culminate with 20th century and the music of today.
