The IU Archives collects, organizes, and makes accessible and preserves records documenting the history of IU. The IU Archives is also the records management office for IU Bloomington offices, schools, departments, and for administration on the Bloomington campus that have system-wide responsibilities.
We will explore some of the basic processing procedures, and what is involved when answering reference questions. We will take a look at many of the different types of documents held in the archives including architectural plans, publications, letters, minutes of the Board of Trustees, photographs, films, artifacts, and other resources. We will also have a bit of fun as we discover some of the oddities and rarities that have been donated. We will tour the archives as well.
