Gallery of the Art of the Western World, Doris Steinmetz Kellett Gallery of Twentieth-Century Art, first floor

Nan Brewer, the Lucienne M. Glaubinger Curator of Works on Paper, will present a pre-film gallery talk focused on the development of Picasso’s personal iconography of a young girl leading a blind Minotaur (from a series of works in the Vollard Suite) to his masterpiece Minotauromachy.

The gallery talk would be followed by a screening of Paul Haesaets’s groundbreaking documentary short Visite à Picasso (1949) and Henri-George Clouzot’s Le Mystère Picasso (1956), which shows Picasso in the act of creating paintings for the camera. The latter film has been declared a French national treasure.
