The T.C. Steele State Historic Site will host a special holiday program on Saturday, Dec. 8, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. All ages are welcome for this family-friendly program. Activities from noon to 2:30 p.m. include holiday crafts, refreshments and a special holiday building tour. At 2:30, the Indiana Youth Musicians Holiday Ensemble will present a musical holiday program. Visitors can create handmade gifts, cards and ornaments. St. Nicholas will arrive at 1:00 p.m. for photos and treats… or will St. Nicholas’s mischievous assistant, Belsnickel, “treat” you to coal and switches instead?
For a double holiday treat, at 2:30 p.m. the Studio will open up to a musical performance by a group of promising young performers, the Indiana Youth Musicians Holiday Ensemble. Landscape painter (and music lover) T.C. Steele was inspired by the changing seasonal beauty of his property, as well as music at any time of year. Indiana Youth Musicians is sure to delight you by performing your traditional holiday favorites, along with some jazzy and alternative twists at times. IYM will debut the youngest member of their Holiday Ensemble, Emma Levesque, who is six-year-old harp player. There will also, be a meet the instruments session for all at intermission.
