The Cleveland Orchestra, one of the world’s top symphonies, kicks off the new year at the Auditorium on January 23. The ensemble returns for a second time as part of its recently established residency with Indiana University, but this time special guest and violin prodigy Joshua Bell will perform a solo with the orchestra.

Under the leadership of music director Franz Welser-Möst, The Cleveland Orchestra has become one of the highest-ranked orchestras in the world since its formation in 1918. The renowned ensemble performs nationally and internationally every year and has established residencies in the United States and in Europe.

Joshua Bell, “classical music superstar,” is a native to Bloomington and graduated from the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. His riveting solo with the ensemble will showcase his immense talent as a violinist.

As part of its original mission, The Cleveland Orchestra will work with students at the Jacobs School of Music to hone and develop their musical abilities as well as conduct an educational workshop for elementary school children to offer them the musical expertise and knowledge.

In the words of an audience member at the ensemble’s previous concert at IU Auditorium, “The audience of more than 2000 people was truly captivated by the unbelievable sounds.” The Cleveland Orchestra’s second visit will undoubtedly perform once again perfectly harmonious renditions of world-class masterpieces.
