Gallery of the Art of Asia and the Ancient Western World, second floor
The prints in this display contain imagery relating to Japanese New Year traditions, such as a large otafuku (young woman) mask, an auspicious symbol of good luck. The series title contains many word plays, including puns on the words for grab bag, pickpocket, and kabuki fan. Grab bags, called fukubukuro (literally: "good luck bag"), are commonly sold on New Year's Day. Curated by IU Art Museum graduate assistant Lesley Ham.
